The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between July 4-10 there were 420 traffic incidents, 14 traffic accidents, seven DUIs, 34 general traffic incidents, 36 alarm calls, eight abandoned vehicles, eight burglaries, eight incidents of fraud, 18 civil incidents, four cases of harassment, 22 thefts, 19 vehicle prowls, two vehicle thefts, eight warrants served, 34 noise complaints, three court order violations, 14 animal calls, 15 incidents of domestic violence, four incidents of malicious mischief and 36 incidents involving one or more arrests.
July 8
Assault: 11:30 p.m., 1600 block of NE 144th St. A 38-year-old man was arrested after he assaulted a 33-year-old woman because he was mad at her for asking for her cell phone back. The woman is the mother of his children. The suspect fled before police arrived.
Assault: 1:35 a.m., 9900 block of NE 124th ST. A 22-year-old man was arrested after he attacked his older brother when the brother said his friends had to leave the residence. The suspect then fled from police. He was apprehended and booked into custody for assault.
Theft: 3:20 a.m., 13200 block of 116th Ave NE. A 27-year-old man was arrested after a 41-year-old man caught him loading a $300 spool of cable into his vehicle at a construction site. When confronted the suspect tossed the spool on the ground, got back in the vehicle and drove off. The man later identified the suspect to police.
Warrant: 13100 block of 116th Way NE. A 20-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding warrant due to driving with a suspended license.
July 7
Warrant: 12:56 p.m., 10900 block of NE 142nd St. A 31-year-old woman was arrested on a warrant out of Bothell.
July 6
Assault: 10200 block of NE 132nd St. A 15-year-old female was arrested after she assaulted a 13-year-old female at a mental hospital. The suspect stated that she assaulted the victim because she did not like her and she would rather be in jail than in the hospital. She then asked the police if they could arrest her and that she would assault the victim again. King County Youth Center was contacted but refused to accept the suspect on assault charges. The suspect is to be charged through investigation for assault.
July 5
Assault: 12:51 p.m., NE 132nd St and 133rd Pl NE. Two 20-year-old men were arrested after they got into a verbal fight that later escalated into a physical fight. One of them was determined to the primary aggressor and arrested for assault. During the investigation he ran from police and was cited for resisting.
Liquor: 4:20 a.m., 11700 block of NE 141st St. A 20-year-old man was arrested after he was found prowling on someone’s property. He was sitting in his parked vehicle when officers arrived at the scene. The suspect showed signs of being intoxicated and was arrested. He was transported home, issued a citation and then released.
July 4
Assault: 1 p.m., 8000 block of NE 124th St. Police responded to a call after a 37-year-old woman reported that her 34-year-old live-in boyfriend had punched her in the face during an argument while their 4-year-old child was sitting on her lap. The boyfriend fled the scene before police arrived. When speaking to him on the phone officers were unable to convince him to return to the residence. There is a warrant out for his arrest for assault.
Theft: 4:50 p.m., 10000 NE 137th St. A 55-year-old man was arrested after he attempted to steal two bottles of vodka from a Safeway and was confronted by employees. He gave the vodka bottles back and then walked south as the employees followed him. When officers arrived the employees identified the suspect and he was arrested for theft. During his arrest they discovered a crack pipe in his front pocket. The suspect told police he was from Seattle and had come to steal the liquor and then sell it. He was processed and then released.
Resisting arrest: 10:30 p.m., 14100 block of 124th Ave NE. A 37-year-old woman was arrested after she was stopped in traffic for no tail lights. She provided the officer with a false name and could not provide any other form of identification. When she was told she was under arrest the woman resisted and after a short struggle was taken into custody.
