The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between April 21-27, the Kirkland Police Department reported 404 traffic violations (at least six DUIs), 13 alarm calls, 19 car accidents, six burglaries, nine noise complaints, 14 thefts, seven car prowls, six malicious mischief calls, six domestic violence calls, four acts of fraud, 11 calls of a disturbance, four illegal substance calls, one assault and nine calls of harassment. At least 39 people were arrested.
April 26
Warrant: 3:01 p.m., 11700 98th Ave. N.E. A runaway juvenile was contacted by police. Her father was notified and the youth was removed from the missing persons’ list. The youth was then arrested on her youth at risk petition warrant.
April 25
Minor in possession: 2:51 p.m., 600 Sixth Street. Two juvenile males, 14 and 13 years old, were contacted walking down the street. Both exhibited the effects of alcohol consumption and were arrested. One of the subjects was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Park violation: 11:38 p.m., 5811 Lake Washington Blvd. Three adults and one minor were contacted for being in a park after hours. Items found on the four included prescription pills, marijuana and two smoking pipes. All four were arrested.
April 24
Liquor violation: 12:20 a.m., 12299 120th Ave. N.E. A 19-year-old Marysville female and her 19-year-old boy friend from Monroe were contacted outside of the Rodeo Steakhouse and found to be intoxicated. Both were arrested after providing breath samples.
Liquor violation: A 16-year-old Kirkland boy was contacted and arrested for minor in consumption.
DUI: 12:37 a.m., 13100 N.E. 85th Street. A 31-year-old Redmond man was stopped after being clocked at a speed of 60 mph on N.E. 85th. The man provided a blood alcohol content of .139 and was arrested.
Liquor violation: 2:25 a.m., 8400 126th Ave. N.E. Three juvenile males between the ages of 15 and 17 were contacted and all three had visible signs of intoxication. All three admitted to drinking at a party and were subsequently arrested and released to their parents.
April 23
Theft: 10:46 p.m., 12021 N.E. 85th Street. A 38-year-old Redmond woman was arrested for third degree theft at the Kirkland Lovers’ Package.
April 22
Warrant: 1:01 p.m., 12200 block of N.E. 130th Way. A Kirkland man reported that his neighbor had stolen a package from his doorstep that contained a pair of Ken Griffey Jr. Nike tennis shoes. The 23-year-old neighbor was contacted and found to have a misdemeanor warrant and police found a pair of shoes matching the description given by the reporting party in side the 23-year-old’s apartment. The reporting party later admitted that he had not seen the suspect take the shoes. The suspect was arrested for the outstanding warrant.
Liquor violation: 8:59 p.m., 600 block of 14th Place. The reporting party told police that they had seen a group of juveniles “getting high” across the street from Peter Kirk Elementary. Upon arrival and after a brief foot pursuit two juveniles, 14 and 17, were arrested after providing blood alcohol samples of .041 and .018. Both were released to their parents.
