Kirkland residents are invited to take part in the Map Your Neighborhood facilitator training at 7 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Fire Station No. 26.
The Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) program prepares residents of their immediate neighborhood to help one another in the aftermath of a disaster when 911 is not available.
Participants will be taught the basics of the MYN process, including the nine-step Neighborhood Response Plan that teaches how to respond to injuries, leaking natural gas and residents who may be isolated or frightened. Information will be provided that instructs how to gather your neighbors, create a map of your neighborhood, and identify the skills and equipment available.
Kirkland CERT or Community Emergency Response Team is sponsoring the event.
Fire Station No. 26 is located at 9930 124th Ave. NE, Kirkland, WA 98034.
To register, visit www.KirklandCert.com. There is a $5 registration fee. Payment options are online. Space is on a first come basis.
