Merrill Gardens at Kirkland Hosts Cool Art and Hot Jazz! Every second Thursday of the month throughout the summer, Merrill Gardens at Kirkland will celebrate the Kirkland tradition of the summer art walk by offering art and live jazz in the early evening. Visitors are welcome to enjoy free live music, art, and light refreshments in the Merrill Gardens at Kirkland lobby, every second Thursday evening starting at 6:00PM. Merrill Gardens at Kirkland is located at 201 Kirkland Avenue, Kirkland, WA 98033, in the heart of downtown Kirkland. Scheduled dates include: June 11th, July 9th, August 13th, and September 10th.
June 11th will feature work on display by local senior artists as part of the Kirkland Senior Council’s first annual “Seniors Are Artists, Too” exhibition. Music will be provided by “Jazzbestos,” starting at 6:00 PM. The senior art show installation will remain on display in the Merrill Gardens lobby until June 17th.
July 9th will feature a reception for local muralist Janice Warren, who painted the historic Juanita Beach mural in Merrill Gardens at Kirkland’s stunning private dining room. Ms. Warren used historic Kirkland photographs borrowed from the Kirkland Heritage Society as inspiration for her panoramic view of Juanita Beach and the old Bathhouse on a warm summer day. Ms. Warren specializes in mural painting and has painted several murals at other local Merrill Gardens communities. Refreshments will be served, and music will be provided by the always popular “DeLively” jazz combo.
