Natalie Michajla of Kirkland recently received a scholarship from Con-way Inc. Michajla is attending Montana State University.
This year’s Con-way Scholarship Program will help support the educational aspirations of 51 new and 105 continuing students who are children of the company’s employees. The 2009-2010 program is awarding $60,000 in new and $118,300 in continuing scholarships. Recipients are full-time students who have a parent working for one of Con-way’s three principal operating companies: Con-way Freight, Con-way Truckload or Menlo Worldwide Logistics, or the company’s corporate and administrative organizations. The recipients are pursuing academic majors including education, engineering and pre-medicine.
Since the program’s launch in 1991, the company has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships to employees’ children who have demonstrated outstanding academic, extracurricular and civic achievement.
The application period for the 2010-11 program opens on Dec. 1, with the deadline on Feb. 15, 2010. Employees who meet eligibility requirements can obtain a scholarship application for their children at the company’s intranet Web site, or through their human resources representative.
