The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between July 25-31 there were 511 traffic incidents, 30 traffic accidents, four DUIs, 34 general traffic incidents, 30 alarm calls, 18 abandoned vehicles, seven burglaries, 14 incidents of fraud, 14 civil incidents, five cases of harassment, 26 thefts, 11 vehicle prowls, three vehicle thefts, 17 warrants served, 32 noise complaints, three court order violations, 12 animal calls, 23 incidents of domestic violence, six incidents of malicious mischief, two sex offense, two assaults, 16 disturbances and 42 incidents involving at least one arrest.
July 25
Assault: 8:30 a.m., 10900 block of NE 133rd St. An 18-year-old woman was arrested after she pushed her 19-year-old sister during an argument and they both eventually started slapping each other.
Warrant: 8:48 p.m., 14400 block of 124th Ave NE. A 41-year-old man was stopped in traffic, where it was discovered his vehicle plates came back to a missing person. He attempted to drive away but was flagged down. He was arrested when the officer learned the suspect was driving with a suspended license and had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
Reckless endangerment: 5 p.m., 12800 block of 125th Lane NE. A 23-year-old man was arrested after he shook the steering wheel of the car his 24-year-old girlfriend was driving. This caused fear for the girlfriend, and the suspect was booked into the Kirkland Jail.
Assault: 11:44 p.m., 12400 block of NE 108th Place. A 55-year man was arrested after he punched his 26-year-old son in the face several times following an argument about the son’s messy living habits.
July 26
Fire crime: 9:06 p.m., 10300 block of NE 145th St. A 20-year-old man was arrested after he was found naked inside the worship room at a church. When police arrived he pulled the fire alarm and tried to flee. He returned to the building and then was arrested as he tried to escape a second time.
July 28
Trespass: 2:09 p.m., 136 block of Park Lane. A 21-year-old man entered a coffee shop, violating a trespass order given to him on July 26. He was located at the transit center and arrested after being identified.
Assault: 4:45 p.m., 8500 block of NE 137th Pl. A 56-year-old man was arrested after he assaulted his 66-year-old wife and left the scene in his vehicle. When contacted by police he was found to be intoxicated and arrested for DUI and assault.
July 30
Violation of order: 8:48 a.m., 11200 block of NE 141st Pl. A 24-year-old man was arrested for violating a protection order with his 58-year-old father.
Theft: 2:45 p.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave NE. A 28-year-old woman was arrested for shoplifting at Fred Meyer. She was taken to the Kirkland Jail, processed, and then released.
Assault: 9:30 p.m., 13300 block of 122nd Pl NE. A 34-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his 36-year-old wife. She told police he kicked her while they were in a verbal argument. The suspect was booked in the Kirkland Jail and a temporary no-contact order was sent to a judge.
Malicious Mischief: 10:40 p.m., 1300 block of NE 132nd St. A 14-year-old girl was arrested at a local Friends of Youth facility after she broke property, threatened the staff, and scraped herself with broken glass. She told police she wanted to be arrested so she might be released in Seattle and reunited with her boyfriend. Staff told police she may have been trafficked by men in the past. She was arrested and booked into the King County Youth Center.
July 31
Assault: 11:05 p.m., 11800 block of 97th Lane NE. A 23-year-old man was arrested after getting into a struggle with his 33-year-old girlfriend over her cell phone.
