News brief: Kirkland photographer wins 11 awards

Kirkland-based photographer Marv Heston is fast becoming recognized as one of Washington’s premier photographers. In two recent print competitions he received 11 awards for his images.

At the Professional Photographers of Washington (PPW) 2009 annual competition Marv received the Wedding Portrait Photographer of the Year award, as well as having one of his images receive Best Portrait of the Bride and Groom. He also received two additional awards, one for group photography and the other for wedding photography. At the PPW state competition 3 of his 4 prints also received national merit recognition from the Professional Photographers of America and where sent on to compete at the national level.

Marv routinely gives back to the community with his photography. He is a volunteer photographer with “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” (NILMDTS), an organization that provides professional photography to families who are at risk of losing, or who have lost an infant child. This is a free service to the families and gives them an opportunity to receive professional images of their infant child that would not normally be practical or possible.

Marv and his wife, Patrice, recently moved to Kirkland, where Patrice owns and operates The Dancewear Center, a retail store that sells dance clothes and accessories, and Marv owns and operates Heston Photo. Visit www.HestonPhoto.com.
