Nighttime drivers who plan to use southbound Interstate 405 to leave the Kirkland area or get to State Route 520 should use alternate routes on Saturday.

In order to continue restriping the highway to shift lanes and create work zones for the Bellevue to Lynnwood Widening and Express Toll Lanes project, crews will close up to three lanes of southbound I-405 between Northeast 70th Street and SR 520 starting at 8 p.m. Saturday. One lane will reopen by 5 a.m. Sunday with all lanes reopen by 9 a.m.

Work crews also plan to close the following ramps to and from southbound I-405 on Saturday night until Sunday morning:

• The Northeast 70th Street on-ramp to southbound I-405 from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

• The eastbound ramp to SR 520 from southbound I-405 from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.

• The westbound ramp to SR 520 from southbound I-405 from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Signed detours will be in place to reroute drivers in this area. These closures are dry-weather dependent.
