The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.
Between June 16-22, the Kirkland Police Department reported 344 traffic violations (two DUIs), 16 traffic accidents, 15 noise complaints, 14 thefts, five domestic violence calls, 23 alarms, 10 motor vehicle prowls, six burglaries, 12 disturbances, one case of fraud, four harassment calls, eight malicious mischief cases, seven civil issues, six assaults and three animal control calls. At least 33 people were arrested.
June 21
Order violation: 11:30 a.m., 12700 98th Place N.E. A 20-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for violation of a protection order, after he entered the home of his mother and demanded marijuana.
Assault: 6:15 p.m., 211 Parkplace Center. An officer responded to a report of an assault at Parkplace. The 17 year old suspect was very familiar to the officer as he has arrested her before. Upon arrival the officer asked the girl to talk with him. He asked the suspect “What all the drama was with another girl?” for which he was told the suspect spit in her face. The suspect told the officer that the victim had made a comment about another girl’s alleged abortion and they began arguing. When the officer asked if she had spit in the other girl’s face she responded, “I spit near her and she moved her face into it.” Another officer arrived and informed the responding officer that a witness identified the girl as the assault suspect, and the 17-year-old was arrested for assault 4.
June 20
Warrant arrest: 4:08 a.m., 12000 block of 120th Place N.E. A 45-year-old Rochester, Wash. man was contacted at Motel 6 after causing a disturbance. He had a warrant out for his arrest.
June 19
Assault: 8:47 p.m., 1000 block N.E. 130th Lane. A 16-year-old Kirkland girl was arrested for assaulting her father.
June 18
Warrant arrest: 8:30 p.m., 10800 132nd Ave. N.E. A 22-year-old Kirkland man was contacted while walking and arrested on his outstanding Bellevue warrant for disorderly conduct.
Warrant arrest: 12000 100th Ave. N.E., 9:34 p.m. A 22-year-old Kirkland woman was contacted near her residence and arrested on her $1,000 Kirkland warrant for driving with a suspended license.
June 17
Suspicious event: 3:41 p.m., 1700 block of Fifth Place. A 9-year-old Kirkland boy was playing in his front yard when a suspect in a four-door tan Honda with two white male juveniles stopped and threw a balloon with a colorless and odorless liquid inside that hit the boy in the leg and exploded. The boy complained of a burning sensation from the liquid. The mother of the boy witnessed the incident and irrigated the site with water from a garden hose. The boy left prior to police arrival to attend a movie. No lasting effects were noted from the incident.
June 16
Theft: 2:30 p.m., 12200 block of 120th Ave. N.E. A 22-year-old Carnation man was arrested after attempting to shoplift more than $200 worth of video gaming equipment from Fred Meyer.
