Kirkland’s annual Arbor Day Celebration and forest restoration event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 15 at O.O. Denny Park. Volunteers are invited to support Green Kirkland Partnership stewardship efforts to plant native trees, shrubs and ground covers, and remove aggressive invasive plants.
At 12:30 p.m., join Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen, city councilmembers, Washington State Department of Natural Resources’ Linden Lampman and Kirkland Urban Forester Deb Powers in a celebratory Arbor Day tree planting. Following the ceremonial planting, forest restoration efforts will resume until 2 p.m.
Tools, gloves and refreshments will be provided. Free pizza will be provided for all volunteers during the lunch break courtesy of Otak Inc., an award-winning engineering, urban design, architecture and planning firm.
