Officer honored for 25 years of service

The city honored Officer Jim Kissinger for 25 years of service with the Kirkland Police Department during a City Council meeting Nov. 18.

The city honored Officer Jim Kissinger for 25 years of service with the Kirkland Police Department during a City Council meeting Nov. 18.

Kissinger started his police career as a deputy sheriff with the Ferry County Sheriff’s Office in 1979 in Republic, Wash. He was hired by the Kirkland Police Department on Sept. 12, 1983 and served in the patrol division, then with the Traffic Unit in 1991. After working for several years as a detective, he returned to traffic duty where he currently serves as a motorcycle officer. Kissinger was honored as Officer of the Year in 1999 and has also served with the Special Response Team, Fire Investigations and is a certified instructor of emergency vehicle operations. He and his wife Jill reside in Woodinville.
