Margaret P. Peavey, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2012, has been inducted into the Colgate chapter of the national scholastic honorary society of Phi Eta Sigma, which recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of first-year students.
The approximately 160 students who were honored at the fall banquet on Nov. 11 had earned averages of at least 3.5 during their first year at Colgate.
Peavey, currently a sophomore at Colgate, is the daughter of Karen M. Perry of Kirkland. Peavey is a graduate of Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart.
Phi Eta Sigma was founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois. The Colgate chapter received its charter in 1982. Founded in 1819, Colgate University is a highly selective, residential, liberal arts college enrolling nearly 2,800 undergraduates.
