Plastic bag ban? Not a problem.
Short term solution: Do your shopping outside of Kirkland. As far as I know, Redmond and Bellevue do not have such ordinances. Shop there. Let the Kirkland businesses go downhill. They’ll be your ally once the profits start dwindling and businesses go bankrupt. Seattle, because of their large population, can get away with it. But Kirkland is a small player and no one is going to follow their lead. Shop in Redmond and Bellevue.
Long term solution: Vote your councilmen and mayor out of office. It’s as simple as that. They’re supposed to be representing you. Clearly that’s not the case. If they think it is, it’s because they think they’re smarter then you (at least the 69 percent who voted against the ban) and they know what’s best for you. Sound familiar? Let them know they’re gone by next election and I’m sure they’ll see things your way just before that time.
