Police Blotter: Dec. 17 – Dec. 23

Between Wednesday, Dec. 17 and Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Kirkland Police Department reported 217 traffic violations (5 DUIs), 58 disabled vehicles, 20 alarm calls, 15 car accidents, 11 thefts, eight assaults (six domestic violence) and six fraud incidents. At least 42 people were arrested.

Dec. 17

Minor in possession: 11:45 p.m., 10100 N.E., 132nd St. Walking down the street with a pack of beer on his shoulder, a 20-year-old male resident was stopped and questioned by police, who measured his blood-alcohol content at .135. The young man said he was working on “increasing his tolerance” in anticipation of his 21st birthday. He was later arrested.

Dec. 18

Controlled substance: 11:18 a.m., 6700 108th Ave. N.E. Two men driving a 2002 maroon Toyota 4Runner truck were arrested and cited for possession of a small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They were released at the scene.

Minor in possession: 2:00 p.m., 1300 block of 6th Street. A 19-year-old Kenmore man and an unnamed female juvenile were arrested at Peter Kirk Elementary. Both were held on liquor violations while the girl was also found in possession of a dangerous weapon, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Dec. 19

Shot at racoon: 12:50 a.m., 10200 block of 59th Street. Using a pistol, a 52-year-old resident shot at a raccoon he believed to be a danger to his dog. The gun was confiscated and he was cited for shooting a gun in the city.

Domestic violence: 10:20 p.m., 400 block of 2nd Ave. South. A 34-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly punching her 23-year-old roommate. They were reportedly intoxicated and arguing over who the property owner of the condo was.

Dec. 21

Flooded in: 5:09 p.m., 11100 block of N.E. 41st Drive. An elderly male resident reported flooding in his home due to the quickly melting snow in Watershed Park. The Fire Department was also dispatched to the man’s aid.
