Police Blotter
Between Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 30, the Kirkland Police Department reported 247 traffic violations (7 DUIs), 32 disabled vehicles, 23 alarm calls, 13 assaults (12 domestic violence), nine thefts, nine car accidents and nine unwanted person/trespassing calls. At least 33 people were arrested.
Wednesday, Dec. 24
FIRE: 1:07 a.m., 12200 100th Ave. N.E. Police and firefighters responded to a resident’s report that the ceiling of their domicile was “starting to bubble” and emitted a strange, noxious odor.
MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: 4:48 p.m., Mercer Island. Police located a stolen vehicle from Kirkland in the parking lot of a Mercer Island Church. The sage green Toyota Camry was recovered and police contacted the owner.
Thursday, Dec. 25
BURGLARY: 3:47 p.m., 10000 block of N.E. 117th Court. A 29-year-old male resident alleged his home was burglarized over the past week. He claimed thieves took his Wii game console and copies of the Rockband, Zelda and Trauma Center games.
Friday, Dec. 26
DISABLED VEHICLE: 12:25 a.m., 6920 116th Ave. N.E. A police officer spotted a motorist needing help in the snow and stopped to offer help.
Saturday, Dec. 27
ANIMAL: 10:42 a.m., 1010 2nd Street. The neighbor of an elderly man in his 70s complained of his feeding local seagulls with bread crumbs. The victim claimed the flocks of birds, waiting for their turn to feed, were damaging her roof.
Sunday, Dec. 28
THEFT: 2:59 a.m., 211 Parkplace Center. A 22-year-old Sedro Wooley man was caught trying to shoplift two beers from a grocery store. He was arrested and later booked and released at the city jail.
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 10:49 p.m., 900 block of Lake Street South. Responding to reports of a fight, police stopped a Dodge Durango the two suspects were riding in. Two 20-year-old Sammammish men were arrested for underage drinking, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Monday, Dec. 29
DUMPING: 10:52 a.m., 12600 block of 118th Street. A resident at an apartment complex alleged an unknown suspect was using their private dumpster illegally.
