The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between June 23 – June 29, there were 828 dispatched calls, including 150 traffic incidents, 29 traffic accidents, no DUIs, 29 general traffic incidents, six incidents involving illegal drugs, 51 alarm calls, two abandoned vehicles, four burglaries, five incidents of fraud, 11 civil incidents, seven cases of harassment, 13 thefts, 17 vehicle prowls, five vehicle thefts, 6 warrants served, 11 noise complaints, two animal calls, 11 incidents of domestic violence, 17 disturbances, no sex offenses and nine hit and runs and 18 incidents involving at least one arrest.
Oct. 7
Domestic: 12:32 a.m., 9300 block of NE Juanita Drive; A 36-year-old man was arrested after his girlfriend stated she had been assaulted and forced into a bedroom. The victim had no visible injuries, but complained of pain. Physical evidence supported the victim’s explanation of events.
Oct. 9
Liquor violation: 3:03 a.m., 11600 block of 91st Lane NE; A 20-year-old Woodinville man was arrested for MIC after showing signs of intoxication in public.
Domestic: 4 a.m., 13600 block of NE 136th Place; A 54-year-old man and his 52-year-old girlfriend got into a physical altercation after returning home from a friend’s house. The woman stated the man had punched her in the face causing a split lip and damaged tooth. The man was arrested and booked for 4th-degree assault, domestic violence.
Vehicle theft: 8:24 p.m., 13500 block of 100th Ave. NE; A stolen Jeep was spotted in the parking lot of A1 Cash Now. The driver, a 29-year-old Kent man, fled on foot and was able to evade a K9 track. A second subject, a 39-year-old Seattle man, had been leaning into the passenger side window talking with the Kent man. The Seattle man was forcibly restrained by officers as he was combative. A third suspect, a 26-year-old Tacoma woman, was also arrested. Officers seized mushrooms, 26 amoxicillin pills and a wallet as evidence and returned the Jeep to its owner.
Oct. 10
Domestic: 8:25 a.m., 12400 block of NE 145th St.; A 53-year-old woman chest bumped a 30-year-old woman, her roommate at the Kingsgate Ridge Condominiums, and threatened to assault her. Police witnessed the harassment and arrested the older woman, who was booked for Domestic Violence.
Warrants: 5:18 p.m., 10600 block of NE 38th Place; A 50-year-old Bellevue man was arrested on his outstanding Kirkland warrant for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Oct. 11
Domestic: 12 p.m., 11400 block of NE 132nd St.; A 22-year-old woman was taken into custody for 4th-degree assault after getting into a verbal altercation with her mother, 52, and shoving her onto their living room couch.
Oct. 12
Assault: 9:55 a.m., 11600 block of Southbound 405; A juvenile kicked and possibly bit a female social worker as the victim took the on ramp to I-405 from 85th St. The victim was able to pull to the side of the freeway, and the juvenile calmed down before officers arrived. Kirkland police and Washington State Patrol both responded to the incident.
Assault: 10:04 a.m., 14000 block of 127th Lane NE; A 48-year-old man approached a 29-year-old man yelling and swearing as the younger man’s dog had pooped and he was not picking it up. A verbal altercation ensued, eventually ending in the second man grabbing the first man by the throat and pushing him against a parked car. The victim, who did not have any physical marks, did not want to pursue charges and only wanted an apology. The two men shook hands.
Warrants: 4:36 p.m., 12200 block of NE 116th St.; A 26-year-old Everett man was arrested on his KPD misdemeanor warrant at the Kirkland Sharis.
