King County Sheriff’s investigators showed up to a home on the Kenmore and Kirkland boundary around 7 a.m. with a backhoe on Friday hoping to find clues in a month-long missing person case.
Investigators spent the morning and into the afternoon digging up the backyard in hopes of finding more information on whereabouts of Jamie Haggard, 27, of Kenmore. She was reported missing on June 17 but her last contact with family was on June 8, according to King County Sheriff’s Sgt. BJ Myers.
“We consider this suspicious,” Myers said.
The home, in the 8200 block of NE 145th street in Kenmore, was swarming with law enforcement on Friday morning, canvasing the area asking neighbors for any information that might aid in the search. The search warrant used by the Sheriff’s office covers the home, property and multiple vehicles.
At least one person, who neighbors said lives in the home, was questioned by investigators Friday morning but was them allowed to leave the premises. Myers said that all the individuals who live in the house have been cooperative with investigators. Haggard lived in the Kenmore home with family and friends.
A backhoe was brought in to excavate parts of the backyard. Myers said that the hole was dug for a water feature but the project was never finished.
“The hole was shallow, only a few feet deep,” Myers said.
The hole was filled in after Haggard’s disappearance.
Law enforcement identified the case as suspicious because of a lack of activity on Haggard’s bank account and credit cards. Investigators have been searching online for any clues of where the mother of two may have gone. Haggard’s two children are being looked after, according to Myers.
Multiple neighbors said that police have been called to the home many times since the family moved in, approximately four months ago, and that the home is known for late-night activity.
