The Rotary Club of Kirkland held its Annual Scholarship Night celebration May 4 at The Woodmark Hotel. This year, ten scholarships of $1,500 were awarded to students of seven schools including Cascadia Community College, The International School, Juanita High School, Lake Washington High School, Lake Washington Technical Academy, and Lake Washington Technical College.
The celebration completes about six months of work for the committee including John Overleese Chairman, Brandon Honcoop-Vocational Service Director, Roy Selvidge, and Shirley Metcalf. Of the many applicants, John Overleese said, “No question about it, this is the best and largest groups of students we’ve ever had.”
This year’s scholarship recipients were: Samantha Fisher, International School; Katie Marie Avara, Juanita High School; Gabriela Patilea, Juanita High School; Clair McLeod Wilson, Lake Washington; Tania Santiago, Lake Washington; Evelyne Kolker, Lake Washington High School; Austin Bogue, Lake Wash. Tech. Academy; Naoaki Donuma, LWTC; Fenny Wirjono, LWTC and recipient to be determined, Cascadia Community College.
The community’s support for The Rotary Club of Kirkland’s July 4th Great Puget Sound Duck Race funds these scholarships.
