Michelle Yousef, project manager, and Joe Cantwell (CDK Construction) spoke to the Rotary Club of Kirkland about what still needs to be done to finish the rebuilding of Leonid Milkin’s Kirkland home on Feb. 7. Yousef reviewed briefly what happened to the home that was burned to cover up the deaths of Milkin’s wife, his two sons and sister-in-law. Since the house was destroyed in July 2006, many volunteers hours, companies’ participation and donations have gone into rebuilding the home and landscaping the yard. However, the garage, basement and a gazebo remain to be finished and the house needs to be furnished. Many in the group were unaware that the project was not yet complete.
The Kirkland Rotary Foundation made a donation that will pay for the permit required to begin rebuilding the garage and several members offered their time and experience. For more information or to make a donation, visit Milkin House on Facebook or contact Michelle Yousef at MilkinHouse@gmail.com.
Rotary Club of Kirkland has been active in the Kirkland community for 73 years. The club meets at 6 p.m. every Monday at the Woodmark Hotel at Carillon Point. Guests are always welcome. For more information, go to www.kirklandrotary.org or contact Barbara Seaton at 206-782-3815.
