A Seattle couple pleaded guilty on Aug. 27 to several burglary counts and possession of methamphetamine after being arrested for burglarizing a Kirkland condo complex last April.

The two were caught after Washington’s Most Wanted viewers identified them from video surveillance footage.

They initially pleaded not guilty on May 9.

But convicted felon Eric John Petrin, 37, recently pleaded guilty to four charges, including second-degree burglary, residential burglary, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of methamphetamine.

“On Feb. 11, I entered a building unlawfully at 375 Kirkland Ave. … I intended to commit a property crime (theft) while there. I stole a computer and bicycle,” said Petrin’s plea statement. “On April 23, I possessed methamphetamine, a controlled substance. I knew what I possessed was methamphetamine and it was a controlled substance …”

Petrin also admitted entering a Seattle residence unlawfully with the intent to commit a property crime and to possessing a stolen 9 millimeter Kahr handgun.

Petrin’s then-pregnant girlfriend, 25-year-old Maegan Ann Blankenship, also pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary, residential burglary, possession of methamphetamine and possession of stolen property.

“On Feb. 11 … I entered unlawfully into a building at 375 Kirkland Ave. with the intent to commit a crime against a person or property therein. I stole a bicycle,” said Blankenship in her plea statement. “I feloniously and unlawfully possess methamphetamine, a controlled substance. On April 23, I knowingly possessed stolen property, a guitar valued in excess of $750.”

Blankenship also admitted to being at the Seattle residence with the intent to steal musical equipment from the residents.

A King County prosecuting attorney recommended Petrin receive about seven years of jail time with a year of community custody for the four counts.

The prosecuting attorney recommended no jail time for Blankenship but six months of community custody.

Both are expected to pay a $500 victim compensation fee and a $100 DNA test fee.

Kirkland police caught the two burglars – thought to be connected with 100 crimes – on April 25 after they received the Washington’s Most Wanted tips.

Surveillance cameras at a condo in the Moss Bay neighborhood caught Petrin entering the garage and stealing an iMac computer from the tenant mail drop. The video also captured images of Blankenship stealing a bicycle.

Police later arrested the couple at their Seattle apartment, which they searched and found a stolen shotgun and guitar. They also found a safe containing baggies of meth and crack cocaine and a cellphone that police believe was used to sell drugs.

Petrin’s criminal history includes 12 felony convictions, three of which are serious offenses that disqualify him from possessing firearms, according to court documents.

The two will be sentenced at 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 11 at King County Superior Court.
