The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between April 10-16, there were 299 traffic incidents, 19 traffic accidents, six DUIs, 34 general traffic incidents, 39 alarm calls, eight abandoned vehicles, seven burglaries, 17 incidents of fraud, eight civil incidents, six cases of harassment, 11 thefts, 18 vehicle prowls, five vehicle thefts, 17 warrants served, seven noise complaints, four animal calls, seven incidents of domestic violence, seven incidents of malicious mischief, 12 disturbance, one trespass, one sex offense, two assaults, 10 hit and run and 33 incidents involving at least one arrest.
April 15
Assault: 2:21 p.m., 700 block of 128th Ave NE. A 17-year-old girl was arrested after she physically attacked her 46-year-old mother and 12-year-old brother, leaving them both with visible scratches and torn clothing. She was taken into custody and transported to the King County Juvenile Detention Center.
April 14
Theft: 2:50 p.m., 12500 block of NE 144th St. A 30-year-old woman and unknown man attempted to steal a boy’s bicycle, whose 36-year-old father reported to the police. The police arrested the woman but were unable to find the male suspect.
Protection order: 6 p.m., 11600 block of NE 74th St. A 27-year-old woman was arrested after she arrived unannounced at a 76-year-old man’s residence in violation of a no-contact order in which she was the respondent. The man notified police after discovering her at the residence huffing chemicals. She was taken into custody and transported to EvergreenHealth. She was later issued a criminal citation.
April 13
Assault: 7:30 a.m., 10200 block of NE 132nd St. A 29-year-old man at Fairfax Hospital was arrested for assault after he grabbed a 32-year-old male nurse, threatened him, and then spat in his face. He then went into the smoking area, climbed up onto a retaining wall and grabbed two large rocks. He placed them over his head and threatened to kill a 23-year-old female nurse. He surrendered when police arrived and was taken into custody without further incident.
April 12
Malicious Mischief: 7:30 p.m., 10000 block of 116th Ave NE. A 43-year-old woman with known mental issues was arrested for malicious mischief after she damaged the inside walls to her 78-year-old father’s house. She also used a hammer to remove and damage wall panels in a bedroom. The woman has been contacted by the KPD several times in the past two months regarding similar issues, according to the police report.
April 11
Assault: 11 p.m., 11800 block of 97th Lane NE. A 24-year-old woman was taken to EvergreenHealth after she attempted to commit suicide by taking pills. Prior to the attempted suicide, police learned that she had been the primary aggressor in a fight with her 24-year-old girlfriend and was arrested for assault after being released from the hospital.
Assault: 11:29 p.m., 11800 block of 98th Ave NE. Police were sent to the Bishops Ale House in response to reports of a 34-year-old man and 38-year-old man screaming at each other in a parking lot. Police discovered that the 34-year-old year old man had been in a taxi and tried to grab the driver’s genitals, then refused to get out as the 38-year-old man got inside. As the cab was driving off, the 34-year-old attempted to grab the 38-year-old man in a similar manner, which he “did not take kindly to” and wanted to pursue charges.
April 10
Possession of a stolen vehicle/resisting arrest/hit and run/malicious mischief: 12:14 p.m., 14300 block of 124th Ave NE. A 32-year-old was arrested after fleeing in a stolen vehicle.
Possession of a stolen vehicle: 10:40 a.m., 12300 block of NE 116th St. A 21-year-old was arrested while driving a stolen Dodge Neon with the license plates switched to that of a vehicle registered in Kelso. After obtaining permission to search the vehicle from its owner, police discovered the suspect had a .357 magnum revolver inside in violation of a no-contact order issued against him that prohibited him from possessing firearms. The suspect was charged with possessing a stolen vehicle, two counts of possessing stolen property, as well as an unlawful possession of a firearm.
