Six Kirkland fire engines responded to a fire in the 200 block of 6th Ave. late Sunday morning. The first call came from a neighbor at 11:17 a.m.

“A neighbor said that they thought they smelled smoke earlier during the morning,” said Robin Paster of the Kirkland Fire Department. “It might have been smoldering or that might have been something else.”

The neighbor called into the 911 when the smoke had become more evident.

The first engines arrived at the scene at 11:26 a.m. No one was injured in relation to the incident.

“That residence has a single occupant who was out at the time of the fire,” said Paster.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
