The Kirkland Community Response Team (CERT) has just six spaces left according to the city of Kirkland.
The eight week course will prepare residents to help their family and neighbors in the aftermath of a major disaster when first responders can not keep up with the demand. Topics include fire suppression, light search and rescue, medical triage, and disaster first aid.
Classes begin on Sept. 17 and will be held at Northshore Baptist Church. This eight-week course culminates on Nov. 16 with a full scale disaster simulation.
