The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Dec. 8
Suspicious circumstances: 11:41 a.m., 12100 block of N.E. 107th Street. A Kirkland woman reported that an unknown person came onto her property and attempted to open her front door. When the woman’s dog began to bark the subject fled the scene, knocking over Christmas decorations.
Dec. 7
Trespass: 6 p.m., 12000 block of N.E. 85th Street. A 47-year-old Kirkland woman was observed shoplifting a baby blanket. When confronted by an employee, the woman returned the blanket and unknowingly her wallet that was stuck inside the blanket. Store management chose not to pursue charges and the wallet was returned to the woman at her residence, where she signed a one-year no trespass letter.
Theft: 4:44 p.m., 9900 block of N.E. 126th Street. A Kirkland woman reported that her house was entered, but that nothing was out of place. She reported that a black box with several prescription pills was missing.
Theft: 3 p.m., 9700 block of Slater Ave. N.E. UPS boxes with Christmas gifts were stolen from a front porch.
Car prowl: 6 p.m., 11800 97th Lane N.E. A Kirkland man reported that his car was prowled and his driver-side window was broken. A laptop was missing from the back seat.
Car theft: 7 p.m., 12500 block of N.E. 65th Court. A Kirkland man reported that his truck had been stolen near his home. The truck had a wreath on the front.
Dec. 6
Harassment: 8 a.m., 11100 block of N.E. 123rd Lane. A 23-year-old Kirkland woman reported that someone left a note threatening to slash her tires. The woman stated that she thinks it’s because her car was poorly parked.
Theft: 11:30 a.m., 10100 block of N.E. 110th Street. A Kirkland man reported that two packages containing an iPod and a Blu-Ray movie were taken from his doorstep. The man felt that his housekeeper may have taken the items, although a home video showed her walking away from the home without the packages.
Dec. 4
Disorderly conduct: 1:32 a.m., 300 block of Central Way. A 31-year-old Seattle man was arrested for disorderly conduct for jumping in front of cars and malicious mischief for knocking over a city planting pot.
