Just 14 months after razing its former buildings, St. Thomas School will open the doors to its new building and campus at 8300 N.E. 12th Street in Medina.
For the past year, the school has been located at Linbrook Office Park in Kirkland.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, the school will hold an official ribbon-cutting celebration at noon.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks the culmination of months and years of research, planning, designing, and construction. The new St. Thomas School, designed by Bassetti, a Seattle architectural firm, represents the realization of a goal to build an environment that best supports the growth and education of young children, from preschool through their elementary years.
Sellen Construction partnered with STS, Bassetti, and the Seneca Group, the project managers, to create buildings and grounds that complement and support the full range of learning experiences and activities. Currently, STS has targeted LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) certification at the gold level, a certification process that will not be concluded until the building is fully functioning.
