Students and parents rallied Wednesday morning at the corner of 6th Street and Northeast 85th Street in support of a nearly $400 million bond to rebuild and enlarge Juanita High School and other projects.
The bond replaces an expiring one and would not raise taxes.
The April ballot measure, if approved, would fund large scale improvements to the high school as well as Kirk and Mead Elementary schools.
Student populations have been steadily increasing over the past few years, causing the district to teach overflow students in portable classrooms. Around 14 percent of classrooms throughout the district are portable.
This bond will be the sixth funding measure that Lake Washington School District voters have voted on over the past two decades. A 2014 bond for $755 million was struck down, falling short of the needed 60 percent approval vote to pass by two percent.
