The Tall Ship Lady Washington will dock at the downtown Kirkland marina for free tours on Aug. 30 from noon until 6 p.m. The walk-on tour allows visitors to explore the ship firsthand and hear tales of life at sea. About 60 to 100 visitors can be accommodated each hour. No tickets necessary; first-come, first-served.
There will also be two free sails, one in the morning from 9 a.m. to noon and one in the evening from 6-8 p.m. Some individuals on these cruises will learn about basic navigation skills, and may even be asked to raise the sails or take the helm.
The free dockside tours and sails are made possible by the City of Kirkland.
The Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain will also be moored at the Woodmark Hotel, Carillon Point, from Aug. 27 through Sept. 4. Tickets will be sold for several mock-battle cruises.
