The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced that three additional Lake Washington School District students have received National Merit College-sponsored scholarships:

• Rachel Ainslie, Eastlake High School – National Merit Gonzaga University scholarship

• Vita Shubin, Redmond High School – National Merit University of Southern California scholarship

• Amanda Collyer, International Community School – National Merit Brigham Young University scholarship

The corporation announced that approximately 1,800 additional winners of National Merit scholarships were financed by colleges and universities. These additional winners join approximately 2,500 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in late May.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
