In late August, work began to remove and salvage rail materials along the Cross Kirkland Corridor.
This work is in preparation of construction an interim trail. As a way to bring you the latest progress of the rail removal, a map showing the progress of the salvage work is posted to the Cross Kirkland Corridor website at www.kirklandwa.gov/crosskirklandcorridor.
In addition, projects updates will be posted at www.twitter.com/kirklandgov.
The rail salvage work is expected to be completed by the end of October. Construction (weather dependent) of the trail is anticipated to begin in early 2014.
Should you have specific questions about the rail removal work, contact Kari Page, neighborhood outreach coordinator at (425) 587-3011 or kpage@kirklandwa.gov.
The city of Kirkland is hosting a second community planning day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 19, which will highlight the goals and vision of the future development of the corridor.
