The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between July 27 – Aug. 3, there were 220 traffic incidents, 24 traffic accidents, five DUIs, 42 general traffic incidents, 43 alarm calls, 19 abandoned vehicles, eight burglaries, 14 incidents of fraud, 20 civil incidents, nine cases of harassment, 30 thefts, 11 vehicle prowls, four vehicle thefts, nine warrants served, 35 noise complaints, seven animal calls, 10 incidents of domestic violence, one fireworks complaint, 20 disturbances, one sex offense, eight hit and runs and 33 incidents involving at least one arrest.
July 27
Disorderly conduct: 8:33 p.m., 400 block of Central Way; A 19-year-old Renton woman was arrested for disorderly conduct when she walked out into traffic without lawful authority. The woman was booked into SCORE.
July 28
Traffic: 6:08 a.m., 8500 block of Southbound 405; A 22-year-old Everett man was stopped on traffic after a random check of the vehicle he was driving showed that his Washington drivers license was suspended in the 2nd degree. On contact, the man attempted to use his brother’s name and date of birth. He was arrested on both charged and his vehicle was impounded.
Obstructing: 11:01 a.m., 9700 block of 116th Ave. NE; A 23-year-old Bothell man was contacted and found to have a felony warrant. When the man took off running, a 24-year-old Kirkland woman helped him escape. Both were arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.
July 29
Warrant arrest: 2:33 a.m., 16600 block of NE 46th St.; Two Kirkland men were contacted behind the 76 station working on a vehicle. A 31-year-old man was arrested on his outstanding Everett warrants for DUI and Theft in the 3rd Degree, and a 57-year-old man was arrested on his Mountlake Terrace warrant for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
July 31
Theft: 4:55 a.m., 11200 block of NE 143rd Place; A concerned citizen witnessed a 33-year-old Kirkland man running down the street toward his vehicle with stolen ratchet straps, a stolen power washer and a stolen shop saw. When contacted by police, the man stated he had bought the items from a friend of his. The owner of the items was located and he stated the tools were stolen off of his vehicle trailer. The thief was arrested for Theft in the 3rd Degree.
Aug. 1
Warrant arrest: 4 p.m., 11400 block of Southbound I-405; A Kirkland officer stopped a 37-year-old Bellevue man and arrested him on his $10,000 warrant for driving with a suspended or revoked license. The man was also cited for expired registration.
Aug. 2
Domestic: 2:50 a.m., 13800 block of 133rd Place NE; A 22-year-old man attempted to drag his 21-year-old girlfriend out of her vehicle. When he couldn’t get her out of the car, he punched her with a closed fist. The woman suffered minor bruising and provided a written statement. The man was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree, Domestic Violence.
Theft: 8:46 a.m., 3800 block of Lake Washington Blvd NE; A 51-year-old Bothell woman was arrested and charged for shoplifting eight single-serve bottles of wine from a 76 gas station.
Warrant arrest: 4 p.m., 450 Central Way; A 27-year-old Des Moines man was contacted by police after a woman made a complaint involving illegal drugs. The man was subsequently arrested on his Tukwila warrant for Theft in the 3rd Degree. The man was also trespassed from the Arete Apartments at the request of the manager.
Domestic: 6:18 p.m., 12200 block of 129th Lane NE; A 31-year-old woman slapped her boyfriend during an argument caused by a comment he made to her daughter. The woman was arrested for Assault in the 4th Degree.
Aug. 3
Theft: 6:24 p.m., 12400 block of Totem Lake Blvd; A 21-year-old Lubbock, Texas woman was caught shoplifting over $200 worth of merchandise by loss prevention at the Totem Lake Rite Aid. The woman was cited on scene and released.
