The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.
Between Sept. 8 – Sept. 14, there were 209 traffic incidents, 23 traffic accidents, two DUIs, 34 general traffic incidents, six incidents involving illegal drugs, 30 alarm calls, 11 abandoned vehicles, three burglaries, four incidents of fraud, 12 civil incidents, 11 cases of harassment, 16 thefts, 13 vehicle prowls, seven vehicle thefts, nine warrants served, 19 noise complaints, seven animal calls, eight incidents of domestic violence, 19 disturbances, seven hit-and-runs and 24 incidents involving at least one arrest.
Sept. 8
Theft: 4:53 p.m., 12500 block of 116th Ave. NE; A 58-year-old woman was arrested for stealing the purse of another customer at Value Village. The woman was booked into SCORE for Possession of Stolen Property, and the purse was returned to the owner.
Drugs: 11:37 p.m., 11900 block of NE 85th St.; Officers contacted a 31-year-old man and arrested him on his Redmond warrant for 3rd-degree theft. He was in possession of heroin and meth paraphernalia.
Sept. 9
Trespass: 2:30 a.m., 11100 block of NE 48th Pl; A 54-year-old woman called 911 when she woke up to an unknown male in her yard and on her porch. Officers contacted the 50-year-old Renton man in the cul-de-sac, and arrested him for trespass.
Disturbance: 3:31 p.m., 12600 block of Juanita Drive NE; A 65-year-old man was removing gravel from an unnamed Kirkland resident’s property without permission. When he was confronted by the landowner, the man made threats, donned metal knuckles and advanced menacingly toward the owner. The man went to jail.
Sept. 10
Animal: 5:07 p.m., 100 block of Lake Shore Plaza; A 36-year-old man was arrested for animal cruelty after he captured a duck and decapitated it, intending to bring it home to cook and eat.
Sept. 13
Theft: 10:06 p.m., 12000 block of 120th Ave. NE; A 31-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting and for obstructing after taking two security cameras from the Fred Meyer electronics department. The man walked out of the store and was detained about a block away. He initially failed to give his name and had to be fingerprinted in the field, and was found to have over $100,000 worth of warrants out of Redmond and Marysville. The man was booked and released on local charges, then placed in custody of Redmond police.
Sept. 14
Warrant arrest: 5:15 a.m., 11200 block of NE 124th Ave.; A 37-year-old homeless man and a 23-year-old Issaquah woman were contacted at the Totem Lake QFC. The man had a $13,000 felony warrant out of Snohomish County for possession of stolen property in the 2nd degree. The woman had a Kitsap County burglary warrant with bail set at $50,000. The man was not arrested because of his heroin-related medical issues, but the woman was arrested and transported to King County Jail.
Domestic: 10:30 a.m., 10000 block of NE 122nd St.; A 22-year-old woman became agitated and repeatedly struck the chest of her 56-year-old boyfriend. She threw personal items at him and slammed the bathroom door open, causing damage to the door and the wall behind it. The woman was arrested and booked for 4th-degree domestic violence assault, and 3rd-degree Malicious Mischief.
