Madison House resident Eunice W. Kempt served her country during WWII as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard. During her three-and-a-half years of service to her country, she earned several medals, but as a woman at that time never received them. During a special ceremony recently, three representatives from the Coast Guard presented 99-year-old Kempt with three medals: the WWII American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Anodized Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.

Kempt was taken by surprise as she was presented her medals during the Madison House Retirement & Assisted Living Annual Veteran’s Day Celebration.
