Youth of year competition

Anna Peskin of Redmond vied for Youth of the Year with 10 other King County teens during the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County’s 2009 luncheon recently. The honorees were chosen by their clubs for their dedication to service, academic commitment, strength of character and life goals. Many of these kids have overcome major obstacles in their lives, making their success all the more amazing. Peskin, 16, has been a member of the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club for one year. The Lake Washington High School student has volunteered 300 hours in the past year.

Each of the 11 teens in this event is awarded a $500 education scholarship.
