Edgar Finley Monroe 97 of Kirkland passed away February 24, 2025, at his residence in Totem Lake Family Group Home. He was born October 13, 1927, in Pendleton Oregon to Fred and Marie Monroe.

Ed was survived by Joanne, his wife of 71 years. His children Paula Egbert (Scott), Julie Okita (Brent), Chris Holbrook (the late Mike), Jay (Maggie) and Patty Monroe (Ciszewski) 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Edgar was raised in Wenatchee, WA. He served in the Navy then graduated from Seattle U. where he met his wife. They raised 5 children living in Kirkland for 70 years. He spent his career teaching and counseling in the Bellevue School District.

Edgars adventurous spirit was evident in his love of skiing. For 70 years he enjoyed coaching and instructing others at Stevens Pass and Crystal Mountain.

He was often seen biking and jogging or walking with his wife, both wearing bright orange jackets in the winter, through the streets of Kirkland. He also enjoyed hiking in the PNW. Summers would find him swimming at Little Beach.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Church on May 5th at 11:00.
