Joan Newberg

Joan Newberg of Kirkland, Washington died November 20, 2013 at Providence Medical Center in Everett, Washington.

Joan was born in Evans, Pennsylvania on June 20, 1931 to Ceylon and Hilda Popple. She spent her youth in a small town in upstate New York where she was one of 7 children.

Joan had lived in Kirkland for the past 35 years where she worked at a number of restaurants as both a cook and waitress until retiring. More recently, Joan has been a member of the Peter Kirk Community Center where she volunteered for various positions. Joan thoroughly enjoyed her time at the senior center. She attended numerous center-sponsored events, served on the advisory board, enjoyed dining out with the lunch bunch and was a member of the “Hattitudes”!

She was preceded in death by her son Rick and is survived by her brother Tom (Danny), sister Margaret (Maggie), her daughters Lori (Ren), Debbie, Cecilia, and Shelly (Jon), grandchildren Desiree, Tony (Mandy), Brenden, Kristy, Danielle, Nicholas, and Allie, and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial Service will be held at the Peter Kirk Community Center Center on December 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Homeward Pet No-Kill Animal Shelter in Woodinville, Washington.
