Julia E. Gilbo, of Kirkland, passed away Oct. 20 at the age of 88.
The youngest of 10 siblings, Julia was born on a 52-acre farm in Waco, Ky. to Tom and Cornelia Tribble. After graduating from Waco High School, Julia moved to Fort Lauderdale with one of her sisters and soon met the love of her life, Marine Officer and Pilot, Ralph Gilbo. They married on Jan. 1, 1944 and after Ralph’s commitment to the war moved to Seattle with young son, Herb. Two more children followed and the family bought a larger house in North Seattle, residing there for over 50 years until Ralph’s passing in 1999.
Julia is survived by her sons, J. Herb (Judie) Gilbo and Guy (Linda) Gilbo; daughter, Candy (Llon) Johnson; grandchildren, Sonia (Jack) Unbehend, Lacey Gilbo, Gwen Dunn, Craig Gilbo, Andy and Brent Johnson; great-grandchildren, Blake, Justine and Jenna; many loving extended family and friends. At Julia’s request, a graveside service was held Oct. 23 at Evergreen-Washelli.
