Margaret Colleen Faraone
Surrounded by her family, Margaret passed away peacefully on July 17, 2016. Born to Ed and Edna Westbrook June 7, 1924 in Baker City, OR, Margaret was the oldest of three children.
Growing up in Melba, ID, Margaret excelled in school, graduating at age 15. She enrolled at University of Idaho to study premed. During WWII, her family moved to Puyallup and Margaret enrolled in nurses’ training at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Tacoma, WA. Dedicated to medical science she would later will her body to UW Medical School.
She met and married William Faraone, an Army private from New York. Margaret and Bill made their home in Tacoma, Spokane, Tekoa and finally Kirkland, where Margaret devoted herself to raising their nine children.
Margaret got her first driver’s license at age 48, so she could complete her education, earning a BA at the UW. For 22 years, she was a beloved first grade teacher at St. Anthony’s School in Renton, WA.
A nurturing wife, mother, grandmother and teacher, Margaret’s passions included painting, gardening and singing. Her artwork, gardens and music defined every home in which she lived.
Margaret is survived by her brother and sister, Robert Westbrook and Patricia Miller, her nine children: William Faraone, Joanna O’Connell, Jeanne Faraone, Chandler Faraone, Troy Faraone, Mary Pat Faraone, Laurie Hanson, Alayne Faraone, Cristina Burk, and 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church: 7355 – 120th Ave NE Kirkland, WA 98033, followed by an Irish Wake/luncheon from 1:30 – 4:30pm at Northwest Cellars 11909 – 124th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98034.
