Rebecca Claire Tapia (née
Jones), 66, formerly of Kirkland,
WA, passed away on 11 August
2019. She was born to parents
John Paul Jones and Frances
Lucille Jones, on 25 September
1952 in Kirkland, WA.
Known as Becky during her youth, but preferring to be
called Rebecca in later years, she was someone you remembered.
Unapologetically herself, Rebecca was generous,
smart, funny, unorthodox, full of moxie, and incredibly
loving. A natural caretaker, especially to those who needed
a helping hand, she became a medical assistant in the mid-
1990’s and enjoyed working with the elderly.
After raising 3 children, Rebecca reunited with the love
of her life, Mitch, and together they owned and operated
Rose Hill Glass in Kirkland. Retiring to Northern ID in 2010,
Rebecca and Mitch would reminisce about their 52 year love,
that started when they were teenagers.
Rebecca’s lifetime love of cats earned her the name
“Grandma Kitties,” from her grandchildren. She spent the last
decade of her life rescuing cats and kittens in need, as well as
loving her own cats, Moe, Louie, Cali, and Snooki.
In June of 2019, Rebecca was diagnosed with a metastatic
brain tumor. After a traumatic surgery to remove the tumor,
Rebecca was unable to regain her strength. She fought, but
knew long before the rest of us that she was saying goodbye.
Rebecca loved watching true crime and ghost shows. She
is survived by her husband, three children, 2 son-in-laws, 5
grandchildren, and would be delighted to be haunting us all.
Rebecca is buried at Tahoma National Veterans Cemetery in
Kent, WA
