A memorial service was recently held for Ruby LuElla Maxwell, great granddaughter of Kirkland pioneers the Elmer E. Gilberts.
Maxwell was born July 22, 1933 in San Francisco, Calif and passed away Nov. 4 at her home at Emma McRedmond, Redmond.
She graduated from Lake Washington High School. Her junior class was one of the first classes to move to the new LWHS. Maxwell was a title examiner and worked as supervisor in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Bellevue and Redmond with title insurance companies. She was a lead singer performing with the Bellingham Sweet Adelines.
Maxwell was the oldest of seven children. She is survived by sisters Julia Maxwell, San Francisco; Jennie Maxwell, Puyallup; Anita Maxwell, Kirkland; and brother Charles Maxwell of Renton. She was preceded in death by sisters Paula Smith and Patricia Sherwood.
