Last weekend was another festival in Marina Park. However, just like Kirkland Uncorked, and unlike Summerfest, the Octoberfest event closed off a big part of the park. If you were an adult you could buy access to part of the park, which I assume included food booths as well as alcoholic beverages. I am not sure why the commitment to alcohol is such that a part of the park has to be closed off to the general public.
The misuse of alcoholic beverages costs the nation billions of dollars annually in all kinds of ways. I am sure our city officials are aware of the negative impact of alcohol has on society in general.
In addition, I do worry about all the people who spend a lot of time consuming alcohol in Marina Park and who then drive away in their automobiles.
