That was a really good letter in the Nov. 18 Kirkland Reporter. The Reverend Marian Stewart absolutely nailed it with her last line – “Love always wins”. That comes straight out of the 13th chapter of I Corinthians, the Bible’s famous chapter on love, and how very much we all need to remember that. Thank you so much Kirkland Reporter for printing the letter and thank you Reverend Stewart for the well timed reminder and for your gracious words of comfort and encouragement.
If we could all truly live out the very first and greatest of God’s Ten Commandments, “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” and the second, “love your neighbor as yourself” we wouldn’t need any governments or elections or police or courts or judges or lawyers or jails. Life on this earth would be like, well, it would be like Heaven!
Half of the population is always deeply distressed after any presidential election, although this time I think we are all feeling anxious and uneasy about the state of our nation and the world. But the good news is that God is still in control and Heaven is coming for all who love Him and trust in Him.
Love is stronger than hate, goodness is stronger than evil, and light is stronger than darkness. In the end, for there is going to be an end to this temporal world, right is going to triumph over wrong. Another great verse from the Bible, Romans 8:28, says it in these words – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
We should all get down on our spiritual knees and pray for our nation, especially for our nation’s leaders, and then get up and get to work showing our love for God by loving and serving one another.
