I am a student at Western Washington University, but originally from Kirkland. In Bellingham we have a program for adolescent girls called Girls on the Run.
With the new incorporation of the Cross Kirkland Corridor, I believe Kirkland would be a perfect location for this program. This is a cost-effective program for a lot of families because the registration fee is dependent on a family’s income.
Girls on the Run is not only a fantastic way to keep youth active and healthy, but a great place to build confidence and socialize with other youth.
There is also a 5k at the end of the 10 weeks where girls can see all their handwork pay off. This has been extremely successful in Bellingham, and I believe Kirkland would be another suitable location.
