Kudos to the LAX Chicks for Children’s for raising money for Seattle Children’s Hospital while teaching young girls how to play lacrosse. (Girls lacrosse camp in Kirkland raises money for Children’s Hospital’ in Sports, Kirkland Reporter, July 25.)

This kind of caring for others is a great example for all of us. The Reach Every Mother and Child Act is Congress’ way of doing this. The Reach Act would work to end the preventable deaths of 5.9 million children and 289,000 mothers each year.

Almost all of Washington state’s congressional delegation have cosponsored it.

Since it is still stuck in committee, our calls and letters thanking them and asking them to continue working to pass it, could make the difference to millions of families in our world.
