Change.

There are a few cliches I can say about it being the only constant in life, but I won’t.

What I will say is, as Talent sings on 2Pac’s classic, “Changes,” “That’s just the way it is/Things’ll never be the same.”

Yes and no.

Yes, that is just the way it is. We all face changes of all magnitudes throughout our lives on a regular basis — from trying a new place for lunch to getting married or having kids.

But will things never be the same?

I say, not necessarily.

You may have noticed that we have been going through some changes here at the Kirkland Reporter with editor Matt Phelps moving on at the end of April and me joining the fold in May. And at the end of last month, reporter Catherine Krummey moved on as well.

Despite these changes, one thing that hasn’t changed has been our commitment to reporting the news of Kirkland to you, our readers.

And with this being said, I’d like to introduce you, the Kirkland community, to our new reporter Megan Campbell.

She started on Monday and has already hit the ground running with a couple stories in this week’s issue.

Prior to coming to us, Campbell has worked for Sound Publishing (which owns the Reporter) for nearly two years, covering Sammamish at our sister publication, the Issaquah Sammamish Reporter.

She was born in Southern California and moved to Oregon with her family when she was in middle school. Campbell attended and graduated from Oregon State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in new media communication and a minor in writing. She moved to Washington state in fall 2014.

Before she came to Sound Publishing, Campbell worked for the Snohomish County Tribune and Everett Tribune. She was a general assignment reporter, mostly covering Everett City Council and businesses operating within Snohomish County.

On her own time, Campbell enjoys reading, writing and painting. She also admits to drinking entirely too much coffee.
