Slurry-seal work made roads worse, is subpar | Letter

I am a resident of Finn Hill and I am very disappointed in the recent street resurfacing work conducted by the city of Kirkland.

The so called, “slurry-seal” has left us with rough, noisy, and dangerous roads. 142 Place Northeast was in great shape before the surface work, and was very smooth with few if any cracks in the pavement.

Now that same road is filled with loose gravel that is easily kicked up by cars that drive over it, and results in a noise level within the car that is at least three times as loud as before the paving was done.

Finn Hill has few sidewalks in the area, forcing pedestrians to walk on residential streets. Pedestrians, and their pets now have to contend with a very rough and abrasive surface.

The work seems very sub-par and I have yet to see any street sweepers visit to remove the loose gravel. It appears the city chose the cheapest resurface option, which makes the overall neighborhood look much worse than before.
