Kya Aldrich pitched a perfect game for the second consecutive outing, and the Kirkland 9/10 All-Star softball team beat Glenwood 4-0 in the first round of the state tournament on Saturday morning in Chehalis.

Aldrich hit an in-the-park home run in the top of the third inning as a double to right field was misplayed. Aldrich advanced to third on an error, then home on a missed throw to third base.

Aldrich struck again in the top of the sixth, dropping a pop up near third base which allowed Mary Madaline Roe to score.

Makenzie Reynolds stepped up with a two-run homer on the next at-bat, 220 to center field, to give Kirkland a 2-0 lead.

Kirkland is scheduled to play on Sunday, July 17, at 3 p.m. against the winner of today’s game between Mukilteo and Sedro Wooley.
