The Lake Washington High School girls basketball team trailed at halftime to Mercer Island on Friday but a big fourth-quarter performance and 39 points from Sydney Shepard led the Kangs back for a 59-51 victory.
The two teams played close during the first quarter but Mercer Island doubled up Lake Washington during the second quarter, 14-7, to take a 24-18 lead. The Kangs failed to cut into that lead during the third but dominated the final eight minutes, 27-13, to complete the comeback.
Carly Rataushk scored 11 points for the Kangs.
