Dexter Mell proved to be the difference for the Juanita High School baseball team, as the Rebels knocked off Bellevue 5-4 in nine innings on Wednesday in Bellevue.

Dexter Mell proved to be the difference for the Juanita High School baseball team, as the Rebels knocked off Bellevue 5-4 in nine innings on Wednesday in Bellevue.

Juanita trailed Bellevue 4-2 to start the seventh inning, but scored on a pair of sacrifice grounders — one from Jayson Schroeder and one from Mell — to tie the game.

Mell hit an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning, scoring JD Worchester for the go-ahead run.

Mell finished with three RBIs. Schroeder had two RBIs, and stepped in to pitch the final three innings and had four strikeouts and no runs.

Carter Rusch got the win for Juanita, finishing with six hits and four earned runs in six innings.

Next, the Rebels are scheduled to play at Liberty High School at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6.
