U.S. Senators Mark Udall (D-CO) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) made good on a friendly wager with U.S. Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) after the Seattle Seahawks trounced the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2.
On Thursday, Senators Udall and Bennet graciously treated Senators Murray and Cantwell to Bear Mountain bison, Palisade-grown peaches, Breckenridge bourbon and gift certificates to “Elway’s” restaurant in Denver.
Senators Murray and Cantwell announced they will be donating the gift certificates to the Fisher House of Denver, a national organization that provides a “home away from home” for military families to be closed to a loved one during hospitalization, illness, disease or injury.
“The guests of the Denver Fisher House are very excited to be the recipients of this generous donation from Senators Murray and Cantwell,” said Melanie Starkman, Executive Director of the Denver Fisher House Foundation. “After a disappointing Super Bowl and also losing a wager with Puget Sound Fisher House, the dinner at Elway’s restaurant in Denver will help lift our spirits! We truly appreciate their thoughtfulness when it comes to our veterans.”
