Northwest University’s Kieran Raney score the golden goal with two seconds left in the first overtime as the Eagles edged Linfield College, 2-1, in a non-league contest on Saturday.
Raney headed in the game winner off a cross from teammate Max Schellmann who was just outside the 18 yard mark.
Bothell resident Kyle Zimmerman gave Northwest U (2-3) the 1-0 lead in the 47th minute on a penalty kick, his fourth goal of the season. Linfield pressed hard and tied the score at the 68:21 mark when Dylan Leathers scored the equalizer taking a pass from Alexander Gosselin.
Linfield held the edge on shots, 15-11, while Northwest U had 8 corner kicks to Linfield’s 7. Bothell resident Daniel Christenson earned the win in goal for NU making six saves while Jorge Rodriguez took the loss with two save in goal for Linfield. Zimmerman led NU with six shots, two shots on goal. Moi Davis had four shots, two on goal for the Wildcats.
